Naval Supply Systems Command’s (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) in Bahrain awarded Dhaif Insurance Agency a three-year contract with a ceiling price of $ 3.3 million for employee health insurance from Bahrain Grade (BG) on September 30.
To align with Bahraini law on providing employer-sponsored health insurance, the Unspecified Term, Indeterminate Quantity Delivery Agreement provides coverage to approximately 1,000 BG employees assigned to the Naval Support Activity. (NSA) in Bahrain.
“BG employees are essential command support personnel on NSA Bahrain,” said Egbert Goodman, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain contracts specialist. “Soldiers, civilians from the Ministry of Defense and contractors are temporarily in Bahrain, but the strength of the BG is constant and ensures stability within the organizations on the base. “
“This new local national health insurance contract is definitely a boost to the morale and health care of BG employees, helping to ease the financial burden in the event of illness and medical treatment,” said Abhilash Moorkoth , specialist in NAVSUP FLC Bahrain contracts. “This type of support will be reflected positively in the day-to-day and overall operations of each command. “
The contracting department of NAVSUP FLC Bahrain worked with the US Naval Forces Central Command and the State Department to determine the details of the requirement. The insurance plan covers a full range of health care, including hospitalization, optical, dental, maternity and prescription drugs.
After conducting a market study, the procurement department of NAVSUP FLC Bahrain solicited the requirement and a best value award decision was made based on the competitive proposals received.
