MetLife Bangladesh has launched a ‘Critical Illness Protection Plan’ – the first of its kind in Bangladesh – providing clients with financial protection against 52 common serious illnesses, including leading causes of death in Bangladesh: heart attack, stroke , respiratory diseases, cancer and kidney disease.
The insurance plan will provide financial protection up to Tk1 Crore until the age of 80, for 52 critical illnesses, a press release said on Sunday.

As the average life expectancy has increased to around 73 years, today’s busy lifestyles and increased stress levels, coupled with poor diet and lack of exercise, are contributing to the growing importance serious illnesses such as heart attacks, cancer, and strokes.
Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that noncommunicable diseases like cancer, cardiovascular disease and respiratory disease account for 67% of deaths in the country.
In many cases, early intervention and treatment of serious illnesses can lead to better results, however, the cost of treatment can have a severe impact on savings and the quality of life of people in the process.
