MetLife Launches Health Insurance Plan Providing Financial Protection for 52 “Critical” Illnesses

MetLife Bangladesh has launched a ‘Critical Illness Protection Plan’ – the first of its kind in Bangladesh – providing clients with financial protection against 52 common serious illnesses, including leading causes of death in Bangladesh: heart attack, stroke , respiratory diseases, cancer and kidney disease.

The insurance plan will provide financial protection up to Tk1 Crore until the age of 80, for 52 critical illnesses, a press release said on Sunday.

“By paying premiums for a relatively shorter period of time (maximum 20 years from the date of purchase), customers and their families can benefit from insurance coverage for medical treatment or the unfortunate death of the patient. policyholder as a result of serious illness or any other cause up to the age of 80, “the statement said.

According to the press release, if an insured turns 80 without making a claim, then they will receive up to 100% of the amount of policy coverage.

The product has been designed to reflect the health needs and financial priorities of the people of Bangladesh.

As the average life expectancy has increased to around 73 years, today’s busy lifestyles and increased stress levels, coupled with poor diet and lack of exercise, are contributing to the growing importance serious illnesses such as heart attacks, cancer, and strokes.

Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that noncommunicable diseases like cancer, cardiovascular disease and respiratory disease account for 67% of deaths in the country.

In many cases, early intervention and treatment of serious illnesses can lead to better results, however, the cost of treatment can have a severe impact on savings and the quality of life of people in the process.

MetLife Bangladesh’s Critical Illness Insurance Protection Plan will help clients manage medical treatments and recover from the physical, emotional and financial stress that often accompanies these illnesses.

Given the current prevalence of dengue, the health insurance plan offers additional financial protection against unfortunate deaths from the disease, the statement said.
